frequently asked questions

What are you like on wedding days?
Calm, positive, and authentic, with a side dish of organized. One of the common themes in my reviews is that I am a calming presence on wedding days. While I am honored to create beautiful wedding images, it’s the highest compliment to know that my couples enjoyed my presence on their wedding day.

Do you travel?
All the time! While I’m based in Tennessee, I spent 8 years in St. Louis, MO and some time in California. I grew up near Chicago, and my wife’s families are in Virginia and the Carolinas. Trips to those areas are frequent, and I love fitting in engagement sessions in new areas. I’ve also been lucky to photograph weddings internationally, from Italy to India.

How long have you been photographing weddings?
I started photographing weddings in 2010, and I became a full-time photographer in 2012. Since then, I’ve photographed over 250 weddings. I have photographed tiny elopements (one so small that I was a witness!), huge multi-day celebrations, and everything in between.

Second shooters? Equipment? Backups?
I shoot about 50% of my weddings as the sole photographer. The size of your wedding and schedule of your day have a big impact on whether or not a second shooter is a good idea for you specifically. I’m happy to help advise. I shoot on both film and digital cameras, depending on the light and scenario. I always, always have backup equipment, and back-up all images as quickly as possible (including shooting on dual-card digital cameras).

How do we know if we’re a fit?
A phone call is a great first step to see how we vibe! After that, I encourage you to read some of my reviews, and to view a full gallery of my work, so that you can see how I handle lighting situations throughout a wedding day and see the types of images you can expect. I’m happy to share a gallery with some similarities to your day.

How do we reserve you?
Please shoot me a message! I would love take some time to chat and learn about you and your day. To reserve a wedding date, it takes a signed contract and a 50% retainer.
